We took some time last Saturday afternoon to visit a site that we have wanted to visit for years, the wonderful Noguchi museum in Queens. A prolific designer/creator of all kinds of mid century modern furniture, stage settings, sculpture, and many other things, Noguchi was a hard working genius whose creativity and career spanned over 50 years.
Of course I am going to heartily recommend that you visit the museum. From the website you can get an idea of the beauty of the setting and of the collection, but you will surely be impressed by the range of Noguchi’s talent as an artist. His genius as a painter shines in the works of the special exhibit Isamu Noguchi / Qi Baishi / Beijing 1930.
The setting of the museum, near a large sculpture park in Astoria is also very cool. You are near the river looking over at Manhattan. Hope that you get the chance to visit!
